General Interpretation

The Moon

You see the Moon coming up when people have not really made up their minds about things and when situations are just not clear. There are times when pushing and digging might help you to figure out what is really going on beneath the surface of a matter but this is not always the case of course.

If you’re reading and need a yes or no type answer the Moon is far too ambiguous for a definitive answer – you will need to draw clarification cards. Think of the Moon as water in a lake; often murky, hard to see through, and changeable.

Don’t bother trying to make things happen in a particular situation if this card comes up in relation to it. If you do, chances are pretty high that at best your efforts will be ineffective; at worst you will find out that you have messed up the situation beyond redemption. There is not always an answer just because you want one.

The Moon Upright Meanings Step-by-Step

Friends, Friendships, and Family

Misunderstandings are usually rampant when the Moon is pulled in any relationship setting. You may be able to get the misunderstandings fixed but you aren’t going to be able to do it by yourself and you aren’t going to be able to force anyone to listen to you, either.

Before you point any fingers at anyone else, this is a time when you should really examine your own assumptions. All things being equal your best bet is to ask your nearest and dearest, about what they are thinking, feeling, and planning, rather than to assume you have it all straight in your mind.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking someone doesn’t care about you just because you haven’t spoken for a while.

Love and Relationships

Expect confusion within your relationship when the Moon turns up. You aren’t reading the signals of your partner as well as you once did when you pull this card about your love life. Don’t push for more affection, or more attention, or even just reassurance, but simply give it time and give your partner time and space.

If you are single and have been seriously seeking love for some time, the moon can mean that you’ll meet a strong contender in a place or in a way that you would never expect to. For example you might meet a possible love while you are hot and sweaty from mucking out a stall, or when you have just fallen headfirst into the guest of honor’s cake at her 100th birthday party. It’s that sort of unexpectedness.

Spiritual Growth

Growing spiritually is not like learning how to do algebra. Algebra can be broken down into parts and sub-parts, there are benchmarks along the way, and you can start with the least difficult parts and work your way up to the more complicated problems.

It’s not necessarily the case with spiritual growth and especially not when this card comes up in relationship to it. When the Moon comes up, be prepared to grapple with complicated and confusing concepts and experiences. Those can take years to get through. Just remember that there is no hurry so you have no need to panic.

Incidentally, you might think that it’s not possible to grow spiritually through working with or learning algebra, but you’d be wrong!

Work and Career

The Moon is not a favored card to see in relation to work and career. It is going to be counter-productive to push and to try to get clarity and reassurance from the powers that be, if you are currently working. Just do your best, keep your nose to the proverbial grindstone, and know that the clarity you are seeking will come about in due course.

When you’re looking for work and you draw this card, it’s a sign to be laid-back and subtle. That doesn’t mean that the world is going to come knocking at your door with your dream job, but it can mean that relaxing and staying focused on the fact that they’d be lucky to find you just as much as you’d be lucky to find them is the way to go.

Message from Spirit

Chill out and you will find that things will make more sense later. Probably! And if they don’t, it’s because it’s not necessary that they do. Either way you are not completely in control and that is just the way it is right now. Don’t panic!
