General Interpretation

Judgment

Judgment is a card about the need for measured and thoughtful responses and reactions. This is not a time to fly off the handle at anyone even if you feel it’s more than justified. You may not have the whole story so move slowly and carefully.

You may find (if you are not the one doing the judging) that other people may be quick to judge you. Unfortunately there’s not a great deal that you can do about that.

Sometimes Judgment indicates bringing together people who don’t know each other and at other times it’s about reconciling a part or parts of ourselves that we have been ignoring or pushing away.

We sometimes say the whole is greater than the sum of its parts and there can often be truth to that. But we have to know what the parts are; if you want to control your temper, for example, you have to recognize that you have a temper in the first place.

Judgment Upright Meanings Step-by-Step

Friends, Friendships, and Family

Try not to get offended if you find that your friends and family are talking about you behind your back. Their motives are good but they are probably just not “getting” the reality of your situation when Judgment has focus in a reading.

Be mindful of the fact that they are not trying to hurt you nor to inconvenience you with their judgments; they are simply concerned about you. If you don’t know what their problem is then ask them.

Of course, your friends and family are not a united group who have a united front, at least not most of the time, so you may need to ask these questions several times, and discuss things several times, before you can truly say that you are all on the same page. Don’t shy away from talking about this stuff, even if it annoys you greatly.

Love and Relationships

Judgment is a somewhat uncomfortable card in the realm of love and relationships. It’s like a few grains of sand in your bathing suit. You can ignore it for a while, but eventually you’re going to have to get it out of there.

This does not mean that you are going to have to get rid of your partner (if you have one) but it definitely means that you are going to need to be careful of jumping to conclusions and potentially flying off the handle.

When it comes to looking for love, it’s not a great sign because it indicates that you’ll be quick to mark off prospective suitors and they’ll be quick to do the same to you. Give new people a chance, and if people aren’t very open and welcoming to you, give it some time.

Spiritual Growth

Judgment in the context of spiritual growth tells you to reconsider some things that you may have already dismissed.

Whether it’s organized religion, or meditation, or yoga you should give some thought to whether or not it’s possible that “church” doesn’t necessarily mean the religion of your parents or grandparents and that there may very well be a “church” that resonates for you that you have not yet found.

You may need to let go of and fully cleanse from your being negative experiences that you equate to spiritual growth.

Work and Career

If your coworkers are bugging you then give things a chance to settle down and don’t react. And then if they bug you some more give things yet another chance. Before you judge them too harshly for their actions ask yourself if it might not be the other way around and it’s you bugging them.

Judgment tells you here that people’s nerves are shot and they are not going to be in the mood for chit chat or talking about process or meta discussions. They want to get things done and get on to the next thing, for the most part. So if you are a person who enjoys analyzing everything and talking about the whys and wherefores of how things are done it’s time to make an effort to talk a little less.

If you are applying for work, the same things hold true. People are doing the work today that used to be done by two or three people even just a few short years ago. They’re busy, and you can help them out by helping them to see whether or not you are the best person to be on their team. Do your homework and know what they are all about before you go to interview, or don’t bother to go.

Message from Spirit

Check your assumptions and try not to make so many. Ask questions and let people answer them.
