General Introduction

10 of Swords

The 10 of Swords like some of its compatriots has a somewhat unpleasant reputation. It is not the end of the world when it appears but you will need to ask yourself some questions.

The ten is all about trust and belief. Not belief in the religious sense but simply whether someone is telling the truth or whether the situation is what you think it is. So, are they telling you the truth? Is everything as good as you think it is?

Unfortunately the ten is a very clear signal that the answer to either question may be “no.” Very simply put, this is a card that warns you to be very careful indeed about where you put your trust.

Like other cards in the Swords suit it is not all bad. At least, it’s not if you look for the silver lining. You are being guided to something or someone better for you. Hang on to that even when the temptation is to despair.

Friends and Family

It might be you, it might be a member of your family, or it might be a friend. But which ever it is is likely to be feeling that they have been stabbed in the back. Somebody somewhere has not been as trustworthy as was thought.

Whether you are directly or only indirectly involved is not really going to make any difference. There is nothing you can do to change what has happened and there is nothing they can do to change it either. All that you  or they can realistically do is to chalk it up to experience and be careful where trust is placed in the future.

Remember that trust should never be given freely and unconditionally without thinking where others are concerned. It should always be earned. Actions, as they say, speak louder than words.

Love and Relationships

The 10 of Swords is an unhappy card to see if you are in a relationship. Something somewhere is not what it should be. The ten indicates a need to completely reassess your relationship and face up to the truth of the matter. You need to ask yourself a lot of hard questions and then come up with honest answers.

Sometimes two people are just not meant to be together. Even if love is there, even if you are soul mates, it just isn’t meant to be. And if love isn’t there you need to accept that you can’t make someone love you. Either way you might be better off starting over.

Spiritual Growth

A spiritual belief that you have long held is actually standing in the way of further progress. It would pay you to contemplate this and to figure out what part of your belief system has outgrown its usefulness.

If you seek guidance to help with this then be careful who you seek it from. There are more fakes and charlatans making promises out there than you may think.

Work and Career

The 10 of Swords is not a good card to see in relation to your job. There is a strong possibility that your job is going to disappear and you’ll be out of work. Whether it’s downsizing, or the wrong toes were trodden on, or someone simply doesn’t like you is neither here nore there. It is what it is unfortunately.

It’s not set in stone but starting work on a plan B would be the smart thing to do. Don’t waste your time and energy on the why or who or the rights and wrongs of the situation.

Unfortunately it is not a good card for those looking for work either as it usually means that a job you thought was “yours” is going to fall through. As the song goes… “Pick yourself up, dust yourself down, and start all over again.” Don’t give up.
